Examination & Paper Options

 

  • There are two options the class.  Option One is a take-home examination.  The question will be distributed on the last day of class (& can be downloaded from the web on that day after class).  The answer will be due on the last day of the law school exam period.

 

  • Here is a “practice” take-home exam.

 

  • Take-home option.  The take-home examination will be distributed on a date to be announced and due on a date to be announced.

 

  • Research paper option.  You may elect instead to do a research paper.  If you choose this option, you must adhere to the following deadlines or you will default to the take-home exam option:

 

Research Paper Deadlines

January 30

Statement of intent & topic proposal.  The topic proposal should be 100 to 250 words & it should describe the thesis and main argument of the paper.

 

If I ask for modification in your topic proposal, a modified statement will be due on February 13.

February 20

Reading list & exapneded topic proposal.  The expanded proposal should be 400-600 words & should be accompanied by a reading list or bibliography with at least 5 relevant sources.

March 27

Rough draft or detailed outline.  An outline is acceptable, but I can give you better feedback if you turn in a rough draft of the paper.

May 1

Final paper.  Your final paper should be at least 6,000 words & should include footnotes (rather than endnotes).  You may use any acceptable style (MLA, Chicago Manual or Style, Bluebook, etc.)
