At present, the 2008-2009 Articles Editors are no longer reviewing submissions nor accepting requests for expedited review for the 2009 Volume of the University of Illinois Law Review. Review of submissions will be again in August. If you have submitted already and choose to publish through a different route, please let us know.

Light Edit Policy
The Law Review follows a light edit policy. After an article is accepted, we discuss the scope of editorial input that the author desires. Even if an author does not request a light edit, our editors presume that the author’s diction and syntax have been carefully chosen. Accordingly, we make stylistic changes only when such changes are strictly necessary to enhance clarity or grace. This policy reflects our belief that legal scholarship should express its author’s voice, not ours.

Citation and Style Guidelines
Manuscripts should conform to the Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition) and to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (17th or 18th edition).

Submission Methods

There are three ways to submit a manuscript to the Law Review.

  1. The Law Review prefers that authors submit manuscripts electronically via ExpressO.

  2. Alternatively, authors may submit manuscripts by emailing their work to lrev@law.uiuc.edu.

  3. Finally, authors may mail manuscripts to:

    Articles Editors/Book Review Editor
    University of Illinois Law Review
University of Illinois College of Law
    244H Law Building
    504 East Pennsylvania Avenue
    Champaign, IL 61820-6996

Please indicate whether your submission is an article or book review essay by addressing your piece to the appropriate editor. The Board of Editors encourages authors to include a cover letter and curriculum vitae with their manuscript.

Expedited Review

While the Law Review has no formal process for expedited review, we will try to accommodate requests for expedited review while classes are in session. We are unable to accommodate requests for expedited review during the reading and exams period.

The 2008-2009 Articles Editors will be accepting requests for expedited review beginning at a future date.

Student Note Submissions
Note: Students may also submit notes according to the student note submission guideliness.
